Racing Club Warwick - Townsend Meadow
|
Website(s) : n/a |
Discussion Boards(s) : n/a |
Directions : Awkward route, but the quickest is M5 to Tewkesbury, then A46 to Evesham, Alcester and across to Stratford. From there, head to Warwick via the M40 Junction and then the A429 into Warwick. Take a left into Shakespeare Ave and the ground is on the edge of the Race Course. |
Parking : Parking is in the car park for the adjacent Warwick Racecourse. |
Ground Description : I suppose that it's not their fault but this is one of THE worst league grounds that I've ever been to. My first visit saw the game played on a gluepot of a pitch and the second was on a rainswept night with little cover (thank God we won 6-1!). There is no cover behind either goal and a small length of either seated or standing accomodation on either side neat the halfway line. |
Food : Served through a small hatch in the Social Club |
Social Club : Very nice and attracts more punters than the football |
Supporters : ?!! |

Redditch United - The Valley Stadium
|
Website(s) :  |
Discussion Boards(s) :  |
Directions : This can be a tricky one, the best bet is to stay the hell out of Redditch Town Centre because it's all one-way systems and bus lanes. Take the M5 to Bromsgrove, get off at J5 and follow the A38 North and stay on the 'bypass'. At the second roundabout go right along the Bromsgrove Highway and after about five miles take the first exit. Go right over a bridge back over the road, then right again before you're forced back onto the Highway. This is now Birchfield Road, take the first major left into Bromsgrove Road and the Ground is down a drive to the left on top of a big hill. |
Parking : It was a big game when we were there so they had to use a rugby pitch next door, but theres usually enough for the crowds they get. |
Ground Description : There's something on all four sides. The Main Stand is strange in that it's the most dominating structure in the ground yet has very few seats. There is a temporary stand behind the bottom goal (there is a sloping pitch) and decaying terrace structures on the other two sides. |
Food : Didn't eat, although they couldn't cope with a big crowd. |
Social Club : A little bit bigger than the bar at Meadow Park with great views of the pitch, one concern though is the access, either via a narrow single breated staircase or fire escape. |
Supporters : Older and should know better than to shout things about Fred West but hey, they've been waiting for a decade so let them have their moment! |

Rothwell Town - Cecil Street
|
Website(s) :  |
Discussion Boards(s) :  |
Directions : M5, M42, M6 to the end, instead of going south on the M1, head east on the A14. Get off the A14 at either the first or second Rothwell junctions and head into the town centre, take a right at the old bank building and left up the hill to Cecil Street. |
Parking : Masses. |
Ground Description : Well, they have floodlights that look as though they came from a railway marshalling yard, no raised terracing, one block of toilets and they have swings! |
Food : Not hot food but it was hard to get annoyed because the little old lady who made the rolls told us how she got up at 7am to get the fillings from Tesco's. Saying that, she couldn't remember what was in each one though! |
Social Club : A small, homely effort. |
Supporters : They seemed very bitter after we beat them... |

Rugby United - Butlin Road
|
Website(s) :  |
Discussion Boards(s) :  |
Directions :  Easy to get to via the M5, M42 & M6 but the more adventurous driver might like to approach from the southwest via the old Fosse Way. The ground is situated on the NE side of the town centre just of the road to Clifton. If you are approaching from the M6 take the first exit at the second roundabout and then turn right (then left) at the end of the road. |
Parking :  A big car park and plenty of street parking. |
Ground Description :  It was like a building site when we were there at the start of the season, but to be fair they have tidied it up. A new stand was opened for 2003/04 and there is cover on all four sides. Also a great place for trainspotters as the west coast mainline runs alongside. |
Food :  Terrible. We ordered a bacon roll and a burger and got two burgers after a ten minute wait. Avoid. |
Social Club :  About twice the size of City's bar. |
Supporters :  Pretty much like any other yet they aren't real Brummies! |
