A robust striker who isn't afraid to put himself among opposition defenders, Varnham looks as though he might have what it takes to make the step up from youth football to the Southern League. After taking part in the 2005/06 pre-season campaign Andy decided to follow in his fathers footsteps and join the army but things didn't work out for him and left Her Majesty's Forces after a matter of months. Upon his return to civilian life Andy signed a dual registration with both City and also Slimbridge AFC in the Hellenic League so that he could continue to get regular football. His most recent appearance was against Bristol Rovers in the Gloucestershire Senior Cup at the end of February 2006.
