Atherstone United - Sheepy Road
|
Website(s) :  |
Discussion Boards(s) :  |
Directions : Finding the place isn't a problem because it's left at the roundabout off the A5 (coming from Tamworth) then right at the next roundabout after the railway bridge. The ground is on the right, you can't miss the sight of the condemned floodlights! |
Parking : Atherstone don't get very big crowds, but still, get there early to avoid disappointment. I'd say five to three! |
Ground Description : Sheepy Road is absolutely uninspiring. There is no cover behind either goal, down the one side there is a small covered area plus two dugouts (hey, I've got to pad it out somehow!) and opposite you have the Andy Rammell stand and a small covered standing area. |
Food : Not usually bad. I usually have pie and chips... |
Social Club : Smaller than my front room. Only go in there if you intend to steal their framed photos. |
Supporters : There what now? There aren't many to be fair and they speak all funny. |
Memories : Atherstone have been following us around the DML for the past fifteen years like a stray dog that you can't get rid of. It seemed that this year we finally night get rid of the old girl but they survived relegation by the skin of their teeth on the final day. I've been to Sheepy Road several times, none more memorable than the 3-0 win in the early nineties. After a goalless first half, central defender Paul Bywater scored with two headers in quick succession to put us two up. I shouted out 'put Bywater up front' to which then striker Shaun Penny turned round and shouted, 'cheeky bastard'!!! |

Aylesbury United - The Stadium
|
Website(s) : n/a |
Discussion Boards(s) : n/a |
Directions : An easy enough place to find, it's on the A413 to Buckingham on the north side of Aylesbury. |
Parking : Theres a big car park out the back. |
Ground Description : Newish ground, very little soul. There isn't any cover behind either goal but there is a nice looking stand alongside the one side of the pitch. |
Food : Dreadful. The worst food I've ever had at a football ground. No salt and vinegar for the chips! |
Social Club : Very big club. Two bars. Just what we could use at City. |
Supporters : We played them in the Trophy QF so their support was rather swelled. Then again, so was ours! |
Memories : What can you say other than abject disappointment. To get to the quarter finals of the Trophy from where we started and to lose to one of the poorest teams that we'd played is a bitter pill to swallow. |
