Tom Webb - Midfielder |
|
Tom Webb has been around for that long that it must be hard to believe that he is just 18 years old. |
Tenacious, tigerish, bloody quick and keen. All attributes of a footballer who at his tender age suggest that he is destined for greater things, lets hope he stays around for long enough to achieve them with City. |
He made his debut for the Tigers in 2001 after impressing in the youth team and during a game at Cambridge was heard to be called the 'fastest number five ever seen' by one of the home fans! |
During his youth team days he played in central midfield, but it's a tough task for someone to step up from boys to mens football and ask them to play in the middle, so with his pace he found himself out wide on the right wing. It was there that he stayed until the early months of 2003 when he filled the position left by Neil Mustoe. |
In hindsight, to have Tom causing havoc and not giving midfielders chance to pause between both penalty areas is a formula that surely can only work. Just ask the Woking midfield where he took his chance and scored his first ever goal for the club against a Conference team on their own ground. Not resting on his laurels he repeated the feat in the next round with a cool finish to send the two coachloads of away fans into raptures! |
As he becomes a more established player in the City team he gets more noticed. Only in the close season did he turn down an advance from Stafford Rangers and we'll do well to keep hold of this young talent. |
