Marvin Thompson - Defender |
|
Marvin is a young central defender who signed for the Tigers upon his release from Cheltenham Town in the summer of 2004. |
He progressed through the youth and reserve teams at Whaddon Road but didn't do enough to earn himself a contract with the Coca Cola League Two side and found himself without a club. |
He'd already spent a period on 'work experience' at City with fellow Robin Lee Davis during the 2003/04 season and this paved the way for him to sign for the Tigers on a full time basis. |
Marvin had played in a handful of games, making his debut on Boxing Day at home to Mangotsfield and with his first touch managed to woefully miscue a clearance across the full width of the pitch. |
However things picked up and he even scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the 2-1 victory at Gresley Rovers in January 2004. I'd like to say it was a curling effort from twenty-five yards but it wasn't, he slid in through the mud to tap in on the goalline, but hey, they all count! |
Marvin will probably be eased into first team action but has done enough in previous games to suggest that he's a bright prospect for the future. |
