Mangotsfield United, in my view an annoying little club from the north-east of Bristol who keep beating us.
Before you get the knives out for me, the reasoning for my opinion is because they were among the first ever clubs that I saw Gloucester City play, a 4-0 FA Cup win in 1989 that proved to be the first step of the longest cup run that the club has ever had. My hazy memory of the game suggests it was an easy win, so when the upstarts were beating us fifteen years later it was hard to take.
Just a friendly at Cossham Street that saw Dave Webb suffer a broken leg and another FA Cup qualifier were competed between the two clubs before City's inglorious relegation and the Mango's promotion saw us in the same league.
The Bristol team were just too strong for Chris Burns' young side and became something of a bogey side but as the noughties wore on City gained the upper hand, with a memorable 4-3 victory in the mud in 2007 making up for City's loss in a nine goal thriller two years earlier.
