Born in Newcastle, Dan's uncle is former Oldham Athletic striker Roger Palmer. He started his league career at his hometown club before making a breakthrough in the south-west spending the majority of his career at Bristol Rovers where he was on the bench as they won the promotion playoff at Wembley in 2015. Dan initially joined City on loan from Newport County at the culmination of the 2019/20 Covid season and signed permanently at the start of the following campaign. He made 74 appearances scoring two goals, both away from Meadow Park. He is predominantly a right back but has played anywhere across defence and midfield.
