Jason Welsh - Defender / Striker
Debut :
Last Game :
Jason Welsh is 24 years old and a centre forward who can also play as a centre half. Having been signed by Harris from Cwmbran of the Welsh Premier League at the beginning of the 2005/06 season he has now opted to follow his manager to City.
The player says “I have a lot of time for Tim, who is an excellent manager and people person, and who gets the best out of his players”.
He goes on, “I am here to score goals, and am ambitious to taste some success, both in terms of challenging for promotion and having played for Merthyr against Walsall last season in a decent Cup run and know that Tim wants to bring this type of success to City. I also know that it is a club with a lot of history, a good squad, and a good set up building from the Youth, so I am pleased to become part of that”.
Harris meanwhile describes Welsh as “as honest as they come, a good old fashioned Centre forward who will add real competition amongst the strikers. I have signed him with that in mind, but in Jason you also have a player who can play centre-back and will look as comfortable there as up front. That is a real bonus.”
Welsh signed for City in June 2006.
