He was a revelation at right back but crunch, a bad tackle at home to Bromsgrove pretty much ended his season and robbed City of a quality defender. Having spent the remainder of the season on the sidelines he left Meadow Park but when and to whom I'm not certain before rejoining in the twilight of the 1992/93 campaign along with Ray Baverstock. This spell not only saw him score (the only goal of the game away at VS Rugby) but also saw him sent off for two yellows at Halesowen. I'll never forget the pissed off look on his face as he trudged along the raised bank behind the top goal at the Grove as he prematurely returned to the changing rooms. These days Steve is still a major player in the local non-league scene as he is Chairman on Cirencester Town, a club that he has helped build up into a force to be reckoned with.
