His goals played a vital part in our Championship success but he didn't see the fruits of his labours as instead of heading to the Premier with City he was shipped off to Stroud FC. He was a key player on that January day when every game everywhere was snowed off except the FA Trophy tie between Stroud and Burton Albion at the Lawn. A large majority of snowed off City fans headed up the hill to get their football fix and were treated to a shock 3-2 win for the Nailsworth side, a result that stood despite the away fans hurling snowballs at home keeper Glen Thomas. A few months passed and Penny was a shock recapture for Godfrey as City set their sights on the Championship only to have their dreams cruelly dashed on the last day of the season away at Bromsgrove.
