Dave Mogg - Goalkeeper |

Moggy was signed by Brian Godfrey from Cheltenham Town for £2500 in the autumn of 1989. It might've seemed a lot of money for the experienced goalkeeper but the Robins had to pay £10,000 to take him to Whaddon Road from Bath City. |
With John Shaw bowing out after his heroics at Cardiff the road was clear for Mogg to make the number one shirt his own after seeing off the initial challenge of both Richard Webb and Trevor Hopps. He was virtually ever present for the next two seasons with just the odd injury and the arrival of Len Bond to disrupt his record. |
Dave was named player of the season for 1991/92 and promptly left, although he added a nice touch with a letter to the Citizen praising everyone at Meadow Park during his spell at the club. |
His next port of call was Twerton Park, back to the ground where he'd made a name for himself. More player of the year awards followed as he took the accolades for three successive seasons until Mark Hervin wrestled the gloves from him and Dave was released. |
The twilight of his career saw him represent Forest Green Rovers, Clevedon Town and Taunton Town with the latter two providing memorable incidents. A 3-1 win at the Hand Stadium saw Karl Bayliss beat Mogg from the penalty spot and during a break in play to treat an injury a few minutes later he bellowed up the field "You luck c**t Baylo, I almost got it". Maybe he thought he was playing Sunday League football but his supposedly friendly quip would've tainted the memory that he'd left with the City fans. |
Roll on a couple of years and he was forced into action when City came to visit Taunton at Wordsworth Drive on a windy, rainswept Wednesday night. Despite a lack of practice he stood up well to the conditions whilst at the other end Matt Bath was throwing them in as the Peacocks pulled off a shock 5-0 win. |
