He never made an appearance for the first team but carried on to play Hellenic standard football for several local teams. Off the field he married Mark Johnson's sister and their daughter Jade Johnson-Manley created waves in local football circles when she became the first girl to be barred from playing for a boys team whilst at Hempsted Primary School.
