Jimmy Cox back to his best |
City played today and in accordance with recent results, it ended up as a draw. However, as the Tigers were 3-0 up against title favourites Halesowen Town, a point is a huge disappointment.
Wing back Lee Davis gave City a perfect start when he fired home inside two minutes before Dave Wilkinson headed in a second from close range following good work from Jimmy Cox at a corner. It was Cox himself who got City's third before goals either side of half time from Nathan Lamey and an injury time equaliser by Lewis Baker saw the spoils shared.

Happy Christmas from Tiger Roar |
Tiger Roar would like to thank all of it's readers a very happy Christmas, Winterval, Snowfest or whatever you may be forced to call it. This season's greeting also goes out to Bath City fans!
The Tigers have a short rest over the festive period and unusually do not play on Boxing Day, but they face Halesowen Town at Meadow Park on Monday afternoon (k/o 3pm). City will be without central defender Lyndon Tompkins for upto six weeks with a groin strain whilst Adie Harris continues to be absent with a shoulder injury that has seen his season only take in a handful of appearances.
The Yeltz started the campaign in impressive form but have faltered somewhat lately and should be there for the taking as City look to convert draws into wins as they aim for mid-table security. |

Lee Davis got City's goal |
City have earned themselves the unwanted tag of away draw specialists following another Saturday afternoon share of the spoils, this time at Hitchin Town. A twentieth minute tap in by Lee Davis was equalised by a penalty awarded against Neil Griffiths for handball, although angry City were denied a cast iron spot kick of their own when Daryl Addis was chopped down in the area.
There are a few photos and a match report .
The Ladies are in action at Meadow park tomorrow against Exeter City (k/o 2pm) so come along and enjoy a good afternoon's entertainment for free.

J***n E***n gone for good |
DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD
J***n E***n, the most unpopular signing in the club's history has been released by the club following an unsuccessful loan spell during the last month in which he offered very little yet contributed so much to split the club down the middle.
I can enjoy my football again now!

Lee Smith wanted by Chippenham |
City travelled to Twerton Park, the new home of Team Bath yesterday to earn a point in a bore draw against the students. The crowd of 151 saw the Tigers' fans easily outnumber the home support although many will wonder why they bothered for what was one of the worst games that I've seen in a long time. Karl Heineger gave the students the lead midway through the first half before Lee Smith scored from outside the box just before the break. And that was it.
Click for a the photos and for the match report.
Tiger Roar sponsored player Lee Smith has been subject of an approach from league rivals Chippenham Town, although Chris Burns has rejected the offer from the Wiltshire side citing that it wasn't worth the time and effort that had been put into the player. Come back with £25,000 and we might listen!

Chris Burns Pompey link gone |
City will face an unknown quantity in the Southern League Cup when they take on Division One West side Paulton Rovers. It will be the second time that the Tigers have faced a Somerset side in a cup competition this season, although, as this is our only chance of silverware it's one that we'd better not lose. The game is scheduled to be played sometime in January at Meadow Park.
Any chance of a future City v's Portsmouth friendly is now unlikely after Harry Redknapp and Jim Smith's left Fratton Park. Smith was in charge while Chris Burns played for Pompey and was his main link at the Premiership club.
Heading West along the South Coast, today the Ladies pulled off a comfortable 5-1 victory against Dorchester Town in the Pat Sowden Trophy. The goals came from a Helen Wood hat trick plus strikes from Sian Rollins and Jodie Hennessey. |

Neil Mustoe Superb headed goal |
City turned the tables on Chesham United at Meadow Park this afternoon and picked up all three points in a 3-2 scoreline that mirrored the one from Buckinghamshire in August. Two strikes before half time, a superb header from Neil Mustoe and a first goal for Daryl Addis put City on top of what was a largely uneventful first half.
The Tigers were sluggish in the second period and conceeded their lead through a Steve Sinclair header and a scrambled goal by Peter Clifford. However it was the substitutions of youth teamer Micheal Noakes for Keith Knight and Jimmy Cox for the anonymous J***n E***n that gave the points to City. Noakes found room wide on the left and drove a shot inside the far post for a memorable debut goal.

Dave Wilkinson Another Double |
City put in a diabollical defensive performance tonight as they conceeded five times as many goals in one match as they did in the whole month of October. Two goals from Dave Wilkinson and one from Lee Davis weren't enough as they went down 3-5 to Tiverton and can thank Matt Bath for keeping the score down with a handful of good blocks and a penalty save.
Click for the match report.
Former player J***n E***n has re-signed for the club on a months loan from Premier Division rivals Merthyr Tydfil in what is possibly the least popular transfer into Meadow Park ever. E***n left the club in the early nineties to play for bitter rivals Cheltenham Town and has moved from club to club over the past few seasons. Now in his mid thirties he is an older, slower version of his former self and will add very little to City's all round play. |

Dave Wilkinson Tigers' top scorer |
It's straw hats at the ready as City travel to Ladysmead to take on Tiverton in the search of more league points tomorrow night (k/o 7.45pm). The Devon side saw their FA Cup adventure ended by League Two outfit Doncaster Rovers on Saturday and will either be looking for someone to take it out on or still suffering from a Cup hangover. Lets hope it's the latter.
The City Ladies moved into second place on Sunday with a superb 5-3 victory away at Yeovil Town. For once top scorer Helen Wood didn't get on the scoresheet as the goals came from Laura Meheran, Jodie Hennesey, Laura Stephens and a brace from Tsileka Perry. Well done Ladies! |

Neil Griffiths Opening goal |
City bounced back from their second first round cup exit of the season with a well earned 2-2 draw against Merthyr Tydfil at Penydarren Park this afternoon. A well hit half volley on fourteen minutes from Neil Griffiths gave the Tigers a one-nil lead which lasted into the second half, but Chris Bale lashed a free kick through the defensive wall to level the scores. Top scorer Dave Wilkinson ran from the halfway line and beat two men before shooting low into the bottom right hand corner but Bale was on hand again to win a point for the Welshmen with a drilled shot that easily beat Matt Bath.
Due to poor light, the aren't very good, but there is a report . |

Matt Bath Mr Safe Hands |
Congratulations to Matt Bath and his defence as the club have picked up the Hereward Sports Teamwear & Trophies Safe Hands Award For October 2004. Following the capture of Lyndon Tompkins from Bishops Cleeve, City conceeded just one goal in four games in October (and that came in the last ten minutes of the month!)
The Ladies were unable to bounce back from their defeat at Newquay and lost 3-4 at home to Frome Town on Sunday. Two Helen Wood goals and one from Grace McCatty couldn't prevent the Tigresses slipping to their third league defeat of the season. |

Neil Mustoe Free Kick Specialist? |
The Southern League Cup is now our only realistic chance of silverware this season following this afternoon's 0-2 FA Trophy defeat at home to Kings Lynn. Having travelled almost two hundred miles before the game the Norfolk side were straight out of the blocks and had the game won by half time, whilst City, who could've walked to the ground didn't show any signs of life until the second half.
Danny Bloomfield, an expensive signing from Cambridge City netted both goals, from similar positions as the Linnets overran the Tigers. Our only real chances came from free kicks, which again were wasted with abysmal efforts from Neil Mustoe. Not a good day to be a Tiger.
Read about the game and see a few photos .
If you want to get rid of the FA Trophy blues, get yourself down to Meadow Park tomorrow afternoon and support the Ladies as they take on Frome Town in the SWWFL. The game kicks off at 2pm, the bar is open and admission is free. |

Chris Burns Available again |
City embark on this years FA Trophy campaign tomorrow with a home tie against last season's Eastern Division Champions Kings Lynn at Meadow Park (k/o 3pm). The East Anglian side surprisingly sit at the foot of the table, but like Tiverton in the week will give us a tough test that belies their league position. With new manager Tommy Taylor in his first week at the helm, their legion of ex-pro's will be looking to impress whilst City would like a repeat of last Saturday's 4-1 win over Banbury. If the game is drawn then the replay will take place at Kings Lynn's Walks Stadium on Tuesday.
Chris Burns is again able to pick himself after he has served out his three match ban and young defender Dan Avery has also recovered from his recent injury so for once City will have a full squad to choose from. |

Dave Wilkinson Top Scorer |
It was a game of two halves at Meadow Park last night as basement team Tiverton Town came to bully, boss and belt the ball as far as they could in the search of points. It almost worked as they had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside before taking the lead through Jamie Mudge, although Dave Wilkinson equalised to earn a point for the Tigers. Wilko's goal takes him to five for the season, one ahead of striker Jimmy Cox, who again started the game from the bench. The point moves City up to fourteenth in the

Good news for the Ladies team as the game played at Cheltenham Town in September has been declared null and void following their inclusion of an ineligible player. The game will be replayed at Cheltenham (although we're not sure if it will be at Whaddon Road) on November 21st with the Robinettes (!) covering City's travel expenses. Cheltenham will not be allowed to field any players signed since the original game and may well struggle to field a full strength team. Serves them right! |

Helen Wood Two goals in vain |
Unfortunately the Ladies team were unable to repeat their feat of beating Newquay Ladies as they fell to a last minute winner to lose 2-3 in Cornwall this afternoon. Newquay's Star player Carla Ward, subject to interest from Bristol City, helped put her team in the lead at the break after Helen Wood had given the Tigresses an early lead. Wood got a second half equaliser before the heartbreak of the late winner sent City on the long journey home pointless.
Following two impressive victories, Tuesday evening sees the Tigers take on Tiverton Town at Meadow Park (k/o 7.45pm) in a game delayed from last month. The Devon side come to City fresh from knocking Conference South side Newport County out of the FA Cup on Saturday and their position at the foot of the table may well lull us into a false sense of security. Featuring for Town will be Kezie Ibe, a striker who during his time at Aylesbury United scored against us to end our Trophy run in 2003 and Paul Milsom, who was with City during the mid 90's.
Come to Meadow Park and support the Tigers! |

Lyndon Tompkins Headed brace |
For the second week running City proved that they could keep the ball on the floor and the result was a comprehensive victory. Today's game against Banbury was hard to call before the kick off although it was all but over by half time thanks to strikes from Dave Wilkinson, Lee Davis and Lyndon Tompkins. A goal apiece in the second half from Tompkins for City and Howard Forinton for Banbury saw the Tigers net all three points.
The result takes City back up to sixteenth in the .

Jimmy Cox Back from injury? |
City play host to Banbury United tomorrow (k/o 3pm) for the first time since our superb FA Trophy run from 2002/03. The Puritans will be a hard nut to crack as Chris Burns' men look to build on last weeks 2-0 win at Dunstable Town. Former Birmingham City striker Howard Forinton will be the one to watch from the Oxfordshire side and hopefully City will have Jimmy Cox back up front following his recent absence through injury. Burns himself will sit the game out as the second game of his three match ban, which, FA Cup replay permitting will be completed on Tuesday against Tiverton.

Helen Wood Late Double |
In a performance that never really got out of second gear, the Ladies beat Buckfastleigh Rangers 5-1 at Meadow Park this afternoon. An early strike by Tsileka Perry was equalised by a superb 25 yard lob but Jodie Hennesey, easily the best player on the field made it 2-1 to City before the break.
In the second half a Perry corner crossed the line and the referee awarded a goal, even though it was netted just to make sure. Goalless up until then, Helen Wood bagged a brace around a short stoppage following an accidental injury to a Buckfastleigh defender.
Pictures from the game can be found .
City's home game against Tiverton Town, postponed last week due to an FA Cup replay for the Devon side has now been re-arranged for Tuesday November 2nd with a 7.45pm kick off. |

Daryl Addis Encouraging debut |
City put the disappointing departure of Andy Hoskins behind them this afternoon at Creasey Park as they won 2-0 against Dunstable Town to complete the season double over them. gave the Tigers a lead that never really looked threatened. With the game played in awful conditions, Chris Burns' men did well to keep the ball down and play to feet and in the second half tore their hosts apart with some slick attacking football.
The second goal came about following a a one-two and a back heel between Lee Smith and Daryl Addis which saw Smith brought down in the area. The referee (the clown we had at Cirencester last year) hesitated before he pointed to the spot. The City fans groaned when Neil Mustoe grabbed the ball but there was nothing to fear as his buried the ball inside the post. The home side didn't test Matt Bath until the last minute.
