Andy Smith Pre-Season Trialist |

Marvin Thompson, a youngster who played a handful of games for City last year has been released by Cheltenham and will be offered a chance to impress during the pre-season period at Meadow Park. Alongside him will be Evesham United captain Andy Smith who impressed most in an under-achieving Robins side last year.
City striker Andy Hoskins lined up alongside former Tiger Jeffries and prospective defender Smith in the Southern League Western Division team of the year.

Lee Jeffries Yate bound? |
The Tigers have suffered a blow at the heart of their defence following unconfirmed reports that centre-half Lee Jeffries has opted to leave Meadow Park for football closer to home at Yate Town. It's believed that the Bristol Postman found travelling to City difficult due to the combination of his job and family commitments. Tiger Roar wishes the popular defender all the best and good luck for the future. Hopefully Burnsy has a few cards up his sleeve!

Natalie Ward Marketing Guru |
City have appointed Natalie Ward, a marketing specialist from Winchester to the role of Commercial Manager. It'll be the first time in around a decade that the position has been filled on a day to day basis as the club look at ways of rasing the club awareness in the community.
Some ideas that she is toying with include a new 'kids club' at Meadow Park and also the possibility of laying on free transport from the City Centre to bring supporters to the games. Other ideas include targetting soft drink and breweries for ground advertising, with Sloanes pub being a focal point in Gloucester.
Good luck Natalie! |

Geoff Hancocks 'into management' |
Older City fans will remember Geoff Hancocks, a solid centre-half signed from Cambridge City via Germany by Brian Godfrey in 1990. Basher, the RAF Fireman (who may or may not have spent time dressed up as the 'Welephunt') has had his career mainly dictated by the Air Force and these days has taken his first steps into management as assistant boss of Highland League side Nairn County.
There are unconfirmed reports that City will travel to Wales for the third time in three seasons for a friendly with Welsh League side Garden Village. This is added to games against Kidderminster Harriers, Rochdale, Portsmouth and second strings from Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.
Here are the games to date (unconfirmed) -- Sat July 17th (3pm) - Kidderminster Harriers (H)
- Sat July 24th (3pm) - West Bromwich Albion (H)
- Tues July 27th (7.45pm) - Rochdale (H)
- Sat August 7th (3pm) - Garden Village (A)

Andy Hoskins Player of the Season |
Thanks to everyone who took part in the first annual COF Awards. After careful deliberation, the votes from the members of the City Open Forum have been immortalised into the pages of TR.
You can see the results of the survey .
In the real world, Andy Hoskins was named as the Player of the Season at the club's presentation evening at Meadow Park on Friday night. The veteran striker was the unaminous choice as his goals helped City to the Runners-Up spot and promotion to the Southern League Premier Division. |

Rochdale FC Tuesday fixture |
The Citizen has released three dates for some of the pre-season friendly fixtures. First up are Kidderminster Harriers who visit on Saturday 17th July (k/o 3pm), a week later West Bromwich Albion reserves will visit but there are likely to be two or three recognisable faces among the Premiership side's second string. Rochdale will be our third confirmed opponents when they visit the City on Tuesday July 27th (k.o 7.45pm). More fixtures will be made public soon.
Don't forget to come down to Meadow Park for the Presentation Evening on Friday. It all kicks off at 7.30pm and will include the unveiling of next season's kit. Be there or be Square! |

Juan Pablo Angel Pre-Season Visitor? |
The names of some of City's pre-season opponents have been released by the Citizen. Among the visitors to Meadow Park will possibly be Premiership teams West Bromwich Albion, Portsmouth and Aston Villa, although there is some doubt over the Pompey game due to strained managerial relations at Fratton Park. Also due to visit are Kidderminster Harriers and Rochdale FC, both from the third division and both will provide a more realistic test for City as they prepare for life back in the Southern Premier. There will probably also be local friendlies like Hardwicke and Brockworth as well for the fringe players. |

Tigers' Review Wirrall PC #1 |
The Tigers' Review, the Gloucester City Matchday Programme has come top of the annual Wirrall Programme Club awards for the Southern League Western Division. It's a great accolade for editor Mike Dunstan who works tirelessly to produce the club publication with regular help from supporters Phil Warren and Andy Birchley plus contributions from others through the season. Well done Mike!
Overall, the programme came first in the Western Division, Third in the whole of the Southern League and Nineteenth in the entire competition. Nineteenth might not sound that great, but when you consider there are 1059 entries, I think Mike deserves a pint next time you see him! |

Tom Webb Two Year Contract |
Following their success against Gloucester City LFC in the Pete Chase Cup, last night a team of supporters took on a Chris Burns select XI. A team including Matt Bath up front with Digger Gardner, Andy Hoskins at left back and Burns' son Jake in midfield came out 10-4 winners. Goals for the supporters came from Mark Compton, Trevor Howard and Helen Wood (2) whilst City netted through Dave Wilkinson (2), Lee Jeffries, Gardner, Bath, Adam Hemming, Lee Smith, Jake Burns, Adie Tandy & Adie Harris. City man Hemming was shown a red card in the final few minutes for a foul on Howard.
Following the successful campaign and promotion to the Southern League Premier, Chris Burns has secured three more of his squad onto contracts. Joining Jimmy Cox and Lee Smith on two year deals are utility player Chris Thompson, goalkeeper Matt Bath and midfielder Tom Webb. Rumours circulating suggesting that supporter Joe Green will be offered terms following his 'impressive' displays in the recent Supporters matches have proved unfounded. |

Andy Hoskins Golden Boot winner |
It was a day of disappointment at Meadow Park as City's slim hopes of being crowned Champions of the Dr Marten's Western Division never materialised. Redditch United, league leaders from day one beat Cirencester Town 3-0 to claim the title as a tired looking City fell to a 0-1 defeat thanks to a late goal from Marc Laws. It wasn't all gloom though as most City fans seemed quite happy with the Runners-Up spot.
Read the match report and see the photos .
Andy Hoskins might take some consolation in the fact that he became the divisions Golden Boot winner with his twenty-eight league goals, I'm sure you'll all agree that it's a great accolade for the hard working striker. Well done Andy!
After the match, the Supporters team took on the Ladies to contest the Pete Chase Cup, named in honour of our great friend and fellow fan who sadly passed away just before Christmas 2003. The Supporters ran out comfortable 9-4 winners. Click for more details. |

Jimmy Cox Knee injury victim |
It's D-Day for the Tigers tomorrow as the destination of the DML Western Division Champiopnship is decided at either Meadow Park or Cirencester's Corinium Stadium. If our Cotswold neighbours can beat Redditch and we see off the challenge of Ilkeston Town (k/o 3pm), the title will belong to City.
It'll be an uphill task for City tomorrow as influential striker Jimmy Cox misses the game with a knee inury. The twenty-four goal forward also missed last weeks win at Redditch where City looked decidedly lightweight up front with Lee Smith partnering Andy Hoskins. Wing Back Adie Harris is also out so that will mean a start for either Tom Webb or Adam Hemming on the left flank.
After the match a team of Tigers' fans will take on Gloucester City Ladies FC in the Pete Chase Memorial Trophy. The fairer sex are hotly tipped to win so hang around and watch as you come down from the heights of ecstasy or recover from the depths of despair.
It's now looking highly likely that Andy Hoskins will walk off with the golden boot for the Western Division. The City frontman is six goals ahead of his nearest rivals, Ciren's Gareth Hopkins and David Seal of Mangotsfield. I'm sure Hosky would be delighted if Hopkins scored enough to take the crown tomorrow though!
Here are the current standings ...

Champions Redditch or City? |
The tension mounts as the destination of the DML Western Championship is decided this coming Saturday. While City host mid-table Ilkeston Town, long time leaders Redditch United are away at third placed Cirencester Town. The odds are stacked in United's favour as City only have a 9/1 chance of winning the crown, however, last weeks results defied all odds so lightning may strike twice.
Here are the possible outcomes...

Chris Burns Scored the winner |
Part One of Mission Improbable is complete after City pulled off a fine 1-0 victory at Redditch and Cirencester lost at Rugby United this afternoon. Player-Manager Chris Burns scored the only goal of the game with a header from a Lee Smith cross in the 14th minute to earn the points for the Tigers, although, that said, City had more than their fair share of luck as the home team seemed unable to pierce the Tigers' rearguard.
The match report is and the photos are .
Thanks to everyone who travelled to the game on the Supporters Coaches and also those who bought tickets for the golden goal competition, the winner was long standing City fan Geoff Abell.
The top of the table looks interesting tonight!
