Jamie Smith - Forward
Debut : Forest Green Rovers (A) - 16/02/99 - 4-2 (aet) Last Game : Evesham United (H) - 17/11/01 - 0-2
Jamie was a talented forward who progressed through the youth team and was set to have a great future in the game but let himself down with his delinquent activities off the field.
He made his debut as a substitute in the county cup away at Forest Green (then in the Conference) and helped City to a 4-2 extra time win against a near full strength team, even winning the late penalty to confirm the victory.
His first start was against Burton Albion at Meadow Park when he came face to face with Nigel Clough and it wasn't long before he was tasting the big time again with trials at Aston Villa. However, criminal trials put his career on hold as he was sent down for an attack on a man in town. When he returned to the fold he played with an electronic tag on his ankle.
Chris Burns gave him a chance to resurrect his career but by that time his weight had become an issue and he was no longer fit enough to play at Southern League level.
During his trial with Villa he might not've made the grade but certainly made an impression on goalkeeper Mark Bosnich as he pinched his cherished international keepers shirt and was seen wearing around Coney Hill!
