Gloucester City started their pre-season campaign with a fine 3-1 win at County League side Hardwicke.

The Tigers opened the scoring through skipper Neil Griffiths before a fine goal by Dave Wilkinson doubled their lead eqarly in the first half.

City welcomed back Lee Burby into the squad but he struggled to make an impact, while former City youth striker Adam Hemming looked lively and impressed player-manager Chris Burns.

Hardwicke pulled a goal back in the second half through Adam Hacker but Andy Hoskins restored the two goal advantage with a fine twenty yard drive.

Burns, however, is still awaiting the decision of striker Jimmy Cox on whether he will be joining Nationwide Conference side Forest Green Rovers or staying at Meadow Park.

Gloucester City's pre-season friendly with Brislington tonight has been cancelled. The match, which was only arranged last week with the Screwfix Direct Premier division side was called off last night due to poor pitch conditions.

Player-manager Chris Burns was hoping that his side could gain their fifth win in six matches with only a 2-2 draw with Nationwide Conference side Forest Green Rovers denying them a 100% record.

Gloucester City Reserves fell to their first defeat in the Severnside League last night when they were beaten by a strong Cirencester Town Reserves' side.

The Tigers fielded a mixture of youth team players, players from local football, two trialists and three first team players, while the Centurions had eleven first team players out of a squad of fourteen.

City took the lead when trialist Tendai Mendai capitalised on a mistake in the Cirencester defence and rounded trialist goalkeeper Paul Titcombe to walk the ball into the net after five minutes.

The Centurions equalised after the break when Andy Minturn headed home a Ben Fitch corner before Fitch hit the winner on seventy minutes to maintain their 100% record and send them to the top of the table.
