They might've been almost three weeks apart but todays big defeat at Redditch means that City have lost their last two games by four goals to one, and this was a game which on paper looked like a good opportunity for three points for the Tigers.
Missing the suspended trio of Matt Rose, Neil Mustoe and Tom Webb David mehew's men couldn't have got off to a worse start as Lee Marshall was found out twice in the first eight minutes and after two shots, from Andy Ducros and Matt Blair the home team were two goals up.
City were finding it hard to make amends on a pitch which had needed the local fire brigade on site before the kick off to pump off the excess ground water and were also looking frail at the back, although the half time interval came without Mike Green's goal being breached for a third time although home stopper Danny Lewis wasn't troubled either.
Marshall, who'd been booked was replaced at half time by Sam Ellis and City's first attempt on target, a header from Marc Richards was soon followed by a penalty after Mike Symons had been crudely hacked down. Well, he wasn't actually, it was as soft as they come although Lee Smith looked a gift horse in the mouth as he smashed the ball over the bar from twelve yards.
A goal there would've given hope but the miss killed any chance of a comeback more than two further goals from Jamie Sheldon, one into the top corner and the other a succesfully converted spot kick of their own. New boy Ben Hunt gave the Tigers followers, numbering well over a hundred something to cheer when Tom Hamblin's header went in off his thigh but Boris will know that he can't afford many more defeats like this.

Lee Smith goal #13
After three long Tuesday night away trips in successive weeks it's no surprise that this final one at Stalybridge has ended in defeat. Fatigue may have played a part but if it did it only really showed in the final stages after the Manchester team had overturned Lee Smith's first half penalty to eventually record a comfortable 1-4 win at the impressive Bower Fold.
Again missing the influence of Matt Rose in midfield and the power of Marc Richards at the back City started well and despite one or two scares took the lead midway through the first half when Jack Pitcher was upended by goalkeeper Dave Carnell. Smudger scored from the spot but the Celtic number one had guessed right and almost kept the spot kick out.
After Saturday's flurry of red cards James Palmer was walking a tightrope after receiving an early caution and then going in heavily on an opponent, this all within the first twenty minutes before the Tigers had scored. But Celtic, looking dangerous down the right wing used that avenue to force an equaliser when Matty Barlow cleverly backheeled Dave Hankin's low cross beyond Mike Green.
The second half made for grim viewing for the healthy contingent of City fans who'd made the trip to the North West as seconds after the home team had made a double substitution Hankin's diagonal run straight through the City defence led him to goal where he punted the ball past Green to put Celtic ahead. Further goals from Joe O'Neill and ex-FGR player John Hardiker added a gloss to the final scoreline with City sub Nelson Monhon missing a glorious opportunity from close range to add a consolotion for David Mehew's men.
Former City manager Brian Godfrey has been diagnosed with leukaemia. Brian, who retired to Cyprus in 2002 had two spells in charge of City between 1987 and 1994, during which time he won the Midland Division Championship, reached the second round of the FA Cup and finished runner up in the Beazer Homes Premier. Tiger Roar wishes Brian all the best.

Jack Pitcher missed open goal
Tom Webb red carded...
Neil Mustoe ...so was he!
After a fabulous week which saw the Tigers win both of their league games they came back down to earth with a bump at the Corinium today losing 0-1 against FA Cup giant killers Northwich Victoria thanks to an 86th minute free kick from Junior Brown.
However, the main talking points of the game weren't about the football itself on a terrible pitch in terrible conditions at Cirencester, it was the performance of female referee Sarah Garratt from Halesowen.
In the first half she dished out two yellows cards to Victoria debutant Jamie Vermiglio, although mystery surrounds what he'd done to earn his second. This act led to the Northwich assistant manager allegedly picking fights with City personnel during the interval after accusing Matt Rose of getting his player sent off before aiming a dirty great kick at the City dressing room door. He was sent off too, but spent the entire second half in the main stand watching the game while FA rules dictate that he should've had no view of the game.
City failed to take advantage of the extra man and it was no surprise that Tom Webb picked up a second caution as he went in high on former Chippenham man Ian Herring, although whether any contact was made is debatable, there is no doubt however of the part played by the Northwich players who surrounded Miss Garratt to induce a second yellow card for Webb. City's second dismissal, and a straight red came for Neil Mustoe after he was ruled to be the last man as he brought down Victoria's ex-Cirencester Town striker Mark Danks. It was from the resulting free kick that Brown curled in his unstoppable shot.
From there City were left to rue their missed chances, Jack Pitcher especially who'd worked hard to steal in and block a throw from the keeper only to miss the open goal before trying to hide from the embarrasment by covering his face with his shirt. Lee Smith also had a great chance on a breakaway at the start of the second half but saw his shot blocked and from the ensuing corner Marc Richards sidefooted wide with keeper James Spencer a mere spectator.
Owing to City not having a game next Saturday it means that all three suspensions will kick in at the same time meaning that the Tigers will travel to Harrogate without Rosey, Muzzie or Webb.

Jack Pitcher 1st BSN Goal
Alex Sykes Leaving City
For the first time since City became members of the Blue Square North they've recorded back to back wins thanks to this 3-0 drubbing of third placed Eastwood Town at Coronation Park tonight.
Back in August the Badgers were City's first opponents and the Nottinghamshire side eased to a comfortable victory, so those doubting Thomas's amongst us could be forgiven for thinking that tonights wouldn't be easy.
But, ultimately it was and on a pitch with a wicked slope and in sometimes torrential rain after Mike Green had performed heroics to deny the home team on two or three occasions City had the ball in the Eastwood net twice inside a minute. Mike Symons flicked on a throw to strike partner Jack Pitcher who sent a low shot back into the far corner as he ran away from goal before Lee Marshall's long pass was flicked on by Pitcher and Symons hooked the ball to Lee Smith who found the top corner after a defender had stumbled.
The home side came out with their asses smacked and tails up but were still unable to find a way past Green and it was left to Jack Harris to seal the win midway through the half when he stole in at the far post to connect with a perfect low cross from Symons.
There aren't many players who would fall into the category of Gloucester City Legends, but one of them, Alex Sykes has announced that he is leaving the club to take his first steps into management. The midfielder, who initially joined on loan in the winter of 2006 has enjoyed three goal filled seasons with City, culminating in his 27 goal haul last year. Syko will be the new assistant manager at Bishops Cleeve.
Following the 4-0 drubbing of local rivals Cheltenham Town, City have been handed a home draw against either FGR or Mangotsfield United in the semi-final of the County Cup. The game must be played by February 28th 2010.

Mike Symons scored the winner
Matt Rose 2 yellows = 1 red
City put their midweek disappointment behind them with a hard working and well deserved win against Gainsborough Trinity at the Corinium today thanks to a ninth minute goal from Mike Symons.
Trinity, managed by ex-Aston Villa boss Brian Little are a team packed full of experienced players, something that Boris can only dream of yet this result shows that it's not always the big spenders who will come out on top. City showed great belief and they were backed up by a vocal section of the T-Siders in the second half, made especially hard by Matt Rose's second yellow card with barely five minutes on the clock. In fact Trinity didn't really test Mike Green when they had a man advantage and struggled to break down a resiliant Tigers defence all afternoon.
The closest Gainsborough came to scoring was actually through a City player as Tom Webb somehow managed to head a cross goalwards with the kind of accuracy that would be more appreciated at the other end by Green pulled off a fantastic saved to deny him! This came after Symons had scored his sixth goal of the season with a quick turn and powerful shot that was too much for the Trinity keeper.
The victory moves City up to sixteenth and puts them in goal stead ahead of Tuesday's trip to Eastwood Town (k/o 7.45pm).

Nabi Diallo debutant
A City team minus influential players Matt Rose, Marc Richards and Mike Symons travelled down to Cornwall for the second time in four days for this FA Trophy tie against Truro City and came back empty handed.
A freak free kick which was carried in by the swriling wind and touched home by Aaron Pugh was enough to send the White Tigers through to a first round game away at Chelmsford City whilst the real Tigers get to avoid the distraction of the FA Trophy and concentrate on the Blue Square North.
With a weakened team City gave debuts to former Bristol Rovers youngsters Nelson Monhon and Nabi Diallo.
If you're wondering where the news of City's FA Trophy match at Truro is, well, after leaving Gloucester at 8am for the two hundred plus mile journey to Cornwall the players and fans got all the way to Treyew Road only for the pitch to be deemed unplayable at 3pm. The tie will now be played, again in Cornwall on Tuesday with a 7.45pm kick off.
Check the weather forecast before you leave!
Ex-Bristol Rovers forward Nelson Monhon has signed non-contract forms with City. The youngster had been on trial with Blue Square Premier side Salisbury City as well as playing regularly with Minehead.

Jack Harris unlucky assist
James Palmer sent off
After last weeks home win against Hyde many would've travelled to Stafford hoping that City would be able to record their first back to back victories in the BSN this season. Sadly, it wasn't to be as a fortuitous eighth minute goal from Jake Moult and a perfomance that was far from comedic from keeper Lee Evans handed all three points to the home team.
After a fairly even start on a boggy pitch in very blustery conditions the home team took a somewhat fortunate lead when Jack Harris slipped in the penalty area but still managed to get his head to the ball only to tee it up for Stafford's Jake Moult who volleyed home from twelve yards past a static Mike Green.
Tom Hamblin and James Palmer were both denied by home keeper Evans, Hamblin from a high lob which caused Evans problems as the ball was caught in the wind and Palmer's low shot was brilliantly turned around the post by the Stafford number one. Both Harris and Palmer were booked for the Tigers along with Rangers winger Andre Francis.
City were easily the better team in the second half but Stafford always posed a threat on the break and as the game wore on had a couple of chances that were both dragged wide of Greener's right hand post, those coming after Francis has seen his shot come back of the inside of the same upright. For City Hamblin had a great chance to head an equaliser whilst Lee Smith will wonder how his point black effort was kept out and Alex Sykes will wish he'd arrowed his effort with the outside of his foot a bit closer to the goal.
As the game entered injury time Palmer received his second yellow card and became the first City player sent off this season when he was the victim of a con job by the Stafford player in front of the referee. Stafford won, but won ugly and on this performance will do well to win many more games.
Two dates for your diary, the away game at Stalybridge has now been re-arranged for Tuesday December 8th (k/o 7.45pm), so another midweek jaunt to Manchester is in the offing and the home game against Hinckley will now be played on January 5th.

Lee Smith two more goals
James Palmer midfield powerhouse
After falling into the relegation places last week todays three points at home to Hyde United were not only welcome but vital as well.
A goal in each half by Lee Smith, the first on twenty minutes where he expertly curled the ball around defender Scott McNiven from the edge of the penalty area and the second, midway through the second half with a free header from Jack Pitcher's sumptuous cross.
Other than an early opportunity where a Hyde player sidefooted the ball inches wide of Mike Green's far post the Manchester outfit rarely threatened and looked a shadow of the team that had looked so good in the reverse fixture on Tameside in September.
Spare a thought for Hyde's David Thompson who was stretchered off after the game with a suspected broken leg. It's unclear how the injury occured.
The draw for the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy has been unkind to City with another long trip, this time away to face Cornish moneybags Truro City. The game will be played on November 21st at Treyew Road.

Sean Seavill full debut
Jack Pitcher should've scored
City's poor BSN form continues after another defeat, this time at the hands of big spending but not producing Gainsborough Trinity after the second long trip in a week to the eastern wastelands of Britain.
It was a game of very few chances for the Tigers and after forcing a corner in the first minute that saw a scrambled effort cleared off the line it was pretty much all Trinity. With a side including Conference journeyman Darryn Stamp, ex-league strikers Glyn Hurst and Luke Beckett and humungus French defender Idrissa Alassane David Mehew's men did well to reach the break without conceding.
The second half was a different story as Jack Pitcher replaced Tom Webb and proceeded to put a free header inches wide before typically the home side bounded upfield and scored with a shot in off the post. Boris threw on young midfielder Sam Ellis, in his first game for a while owing to Gainsborough's proximity to his university at Sheffield but it was to no avaiil as the elusive equaliser didn't come and City fell into the relegation zone.
Considering that Gainsborough were below us before the game it shows how tough a task Boris has when they were reputed to be paying out £12k per week in wages and their manager Brian Little was on either £2k, £5k or £7k of that depending on who you were listening to! This is another game that we might have to write off in search of that coveted nineteenth place in May.

Lee Smith two goals
So, City's best FA Cup run for six years is over, but don't let the notion that we lost to a side from two leagues below ruin the memories of the away wins at Dorchester and Bashley as Lowestoft have players from our level and above and it showed.
In front of a bumper home crowd of 2247, the highest attendance that the Tigers have played in front since the 1-1 draw in the FA Trophy at Stevenage Borough in 1998 it was the Trawler Boys who won by a flattering 2-4 scoreline to progress through to a first round game away at Conference side Wrexham.
Despite having the better start City found themselves two goals down, one thanks to a Matt Nolan penalty after Matt Rose was adjudged to have fouled Andrew Fisk, even though the offence was outside the area. Seven minutes later it was two when Scott Mitchell's shot took a lucky bounce in front of Mike Green to deceive the keeper and find the net. But Lee Smith pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time from the spot after Rose himself had been pushed by goalscorer Mitchell.
City started the second half with their tails up but for all their possession were unable to get past a resolute defence and goalkeeper Andy Reynolds, so with players committed forward David Mehew's men were caught on the break when Neil Plaskett crossed for ex-Kings Lynn forward Andrew Fisk to head past Green. The Tigers didn't give up though and Smith, not Tom Webb as reported elsewhere embarrassed Reynolds with a fizzing low shot from thirty yards inside his near post but after Rose's header was blocked at the far post the home team broke and Fisk scored his second to give the scoreline a flattering look.
In twenty years of being a City fan I've not been as depressed about a result as I have about this one, and there have been plenty of occasions that could've been worse.
After a terrible first half ruined by a north-easterly wind which saw City offer little it was some relief that it was goalless at the break, although ex-Kings Lynn and Peterborough winger Adam Smith should've scored with at least one of his two efforts on goal.
With the wind at their backs City showed their opponents how to do it and after dominating the second half were unlucky not to take the lead through Lee Marshall's rocket free kick that came back off of the upright. However minutes later the Tigers were in front thanks to a bizarre looping header from Greg Crane that found the corber from whence it came as he jumped with Marc Richards for a free kick.
Matt Rose was the victim of a late tackle by Lowestoft's Craig Bussens, for which he received a yellow card. But players will know not to mess with Rosey as justice from a referee doesn't equate to justice from Rosey and the next time the two came together the City man righted a wrong and following a squeal from the Lowestoft man and some treatment Bussens was substituted. The beauty of it was that the revenge was missed by all three officials.
Needless to say, Rosey had the last laugh.
But it's a cruel, cruel game and after Lowestoft had hit the crossbar with their own free kick and with five men up front they forced an equaliser in the fourth minute of injury time when Gary McGee added the finishing touch to a pinging ball across the face of the City goal.
The Supporters Trust are trying to arrange a coach for the replay, it will be expensive owing to the long distance in midweek and the cost of two drivers so tickets will be £30 per person with no concessions. Thirty people will need to book to make this viable, alternatively a minibus will run if we don't get the numbers. To book a seat, click here.
Lowestoft's Craig Bussens looks in pain after getting some Rosey Retribution!

Lee Smith 2nd minute strike
Mike Symons in the goals
Alex Sykes got the fourth
The Tigers bounced back from their late defeat against Fleetwood with an easy 4-0 victory over local rivals Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road tonight.
The Scuzz, who are desperately searching for ways to part company with manager Martin Allen without paying him off fielded a young side containing mainly fringe players and decided to call themselves Cheltenham Town XI, thats despite them not having a reserve team, therefore it's a full on City versus the Scum in TR's book!
It didn't take long to separate the men from the boys, which, in Cheltenham isn't an easy task as Lee Smith beat the offside trap in the second minute to connect with debutant keeper Ben Lewis' long kick to score. Mike Symons made it two midway through the second half when he finished with aplomb into the top corner after Alex Sykes had flicked the ball to him on the edge of the box.
It took until twenty-five minutes for the home "XI" to have an attempt and that flew wide before City keeper Lewis and Matt Sysum combines to deny little scuzzer Marley Watkins. I wonder if his parents liked reggae music?
With half time approaching Symons really stuck the knife into the Robins of the future when Ajet Shehu made a complete pigs ear of a clearance leaving the City man room to take the piss out of veteran keeper Barry Richardson and slot the ball into the empty net.
At the start of the second half Lewis and Sysum again combined to clear from David Hutton before hapless keeper Richardson was rooted to the spot as Alex Sykes was given the freedom of Whaddon to tap home after Smith had smashed substitute Will Morford's cross against the bar.
Trialist goalkeepr Lewis pulled off an incredible save from Scuzz forward Denton to keep his sheet clean and maybe keep Mike Green on his toes with twenty minutes remaining.
Symons was denied a hat-trick when his glancing header from Eddie Jones' cross bounced the wrong side of the post but Lewis's goal remained intact and City recorded a fine victory against the future stars of Whaddon Road.
No doubt the die-hard Scuzzers will dismiss this result but they don't matter.
No interview tonight I'm afraid, it is a Tiger Roar policy not to put money over the turnstiles at Whaddon.

Marc Richards City scorer
Sean Seavill New signing
Crestfallen is a word which could be used to describe how the majority of the City camp would've felt following this heartbreaking 1-2 home defeat against the fancied Fleetwood Town at the Corinium today.
After a goalless first half, which was acceptable to the Tigers fans especially since the Blackpool team had enjoyed the better of the game it was something of a surprise when Marc Richards gave City the lead with a close range effort in a goalmouth scramble from a Lee Marshall free kick.
But Fleetwood, who included ex-Aston Villa full back Alan Wright plus a centre-half Steven McNulty and forward Gareth Seddon who cost almost £50,000 between them seemed to stir after going behind and finally got a deserved equaliser when former Forest Green winger Lee Dodgson stole in at the far post to connect with Seddon's cross.
Just when it seemed that David Mehew's men had done enough to take a point from the game Seddon shook off the challenege of James Baldwin and fired a shot low into Mike Green's far corner to net all three points for the Lancashire outfit. A harsh outcome but positives can be taken how City didn't fold as they had against Droylsden and made Micky Mellon's men work for all three points.
City have signed forward Sean Seavill from Clevedon Town. The Hartpury College student who can play anywhere across the front line made his debut as a first half substitute for Jack Pitcher today.

Matt Nolan Lowestoft dangerman
The only thing that stands between City and their much sought after place in the first round proper are Ryman Division One North leaders Lowestoft Town.
The Trawlermen are equal top with East Thurrock United, a team which ended City's hopes in last years FA Trophy so the Suffolk club won't be taken lightly. Last night Lowestoft beat Sutton Coldfield Town 2-1 in a replay to earn their trip to Cirencester and it was Matt Nolan who got both of their goals, Nolan of course has already scored a winner against the Tigers as AFC Telford won 0-1 at the Corinium in August.
A coach will be running to the home game against Fleetwood Town this coming Saturday, pick up points will be Quedgeley, outside Village Hall(1pm), Meadow Park(1.10pm),Bruton Way (outside old Courts/ Dunelm) at 1.15pm and Morrisons (1.25pm).If you wish to travel on it, post a message here or phone/text Joe Green on 07860802839.

Jack Pitcher timely equaliser
Tom Hamblin matchwinner
Tom Webb star man
Has Gloucester City's love affair with the FA Cup been re-ignited?
What looked like a tasty South v's North encounter at the Avenue Stadium certainly lived upto it's billing as the Tigers overcame their hosts to record a fantastic win in the third qualifying round of this years competition to get into Monday's draw which could see a game against Conference opposition or a team from below that could be a potential stepping stone into the competition proper.
David Mehew fielded an attacking looking side with Jack Pitcher preferred on the left wing to Jack Harris who hadn't quite overcome his midweek bout of flu and it was Pitcher who was in the thick of the action when he was brought down in the area by Dorchester's Harry Montacute, although the referee failed to award either a penalty or a corner kick. To rub salt into City's wounds the home team counter attacked and a cross from dancing winger Andre Costa bounced across City's six-yard box before ex-Chelsea and Yeovil player Nick Crittenden headed home at the far post from the narrowest of angles.
The scores stayed that way until the break and the only threat that came from the Dorchester attack was elbow shaped towards City players' noses so at the interval Boris showed his motivational genius and sent out a team that raised their game and penned the Magpies back into their own half.
The catalyst for City's upturn in form seemed to be the introduction of Harris for Will Morford and Pitcher moving up front, as within minutes he'd almost smashed the post in half with a powerful left footed drive but before long it was his right peg that earned the plaudits as he hooked in a cushioned header from Mike Symons. The hundred plus City fans went apeshit and didn't have to wait long to do it all again when Pitcher was fouled by Gary Bowles in the corner; Lee Smith sent in a tantalising set-piece which saw Tom Hamblin get there quickest to glance the ball inside the far post with his eyebrows!
Dorchester rallied and thought they'd equalised when Marc Jermyn angled in a powerful shot through the City defence but super Mike Green somehow got a hand to it to push the ball wide. City looked dangerous on the counter and man of the match Tom Webb found Smith in acres of space and the City winger was unlucky to be denied by a solid block from home keeper Regan Coward.
Hearts were in mouths as the clock on the top of the main stand ticked towards ten to five and just after Matt Groves had spun and sent in a shot that rebounded to safety off of the post the referee blew the final whistle to send the travelling T-End into ecstacy!
City have put in seven days notice of approach for Clevedon Town attacker Sean Seavill. Seavill, who is a student at Hartpury College and also lives in Gloucester can play anywhere across the front line and will be best remembered for his appearances against City during his time with Chippenham Town.

Luke Ballinger Frome alone
Winger Luke Ballinger has left the club and signed for Zamaretto South & West side Frome Town. Luke, who is the captain of the England Futsal team has found chances limited and also has been struggling with the extra travelling in the Blue Square North. TR wishes Luke all the best with his new club.
Added to that, Mangotsfield full back Neil Arndale has decided to stay at Cossham Street so Boris has strarted to look elsewhere for a right back.

Marc Richards hit the bar
Tom Hamblin impressed
Any hope that City had of gaining all three points at Ilkeston today seemed to be blown away by a severe gale which ruined the game as a spectacle. The home side had the best of the first half with the wind at their backs and likewise the Tigers enjoyed the better chances after the interval.
The highlights of the first half were few and far between but Will Morford did force Ilkeston Keeper and BSN player of the month Dan Lowson to save from his angled drive but his opposite number Mike Green saw more action. Ilson's Jake Beecroft looked as though he might've gambled more to get his head to a ball across the goal before dangerous striker Gary Ricketts conected with a high hanging ball, or at least he thought he had but had in fact kicked James Baldwin plumb in the face, a foul for which he earned a booking.
There were several scouts present as well as Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido watching the young Ilkeston attackers maybe they would've been impressed by the performances of Tom Hamblin and Greener in the City team?
If the first half was all Ilson then the second belonged to the Tigers and Jack Pitcher brought a save for the cameras out of home keeper Lowson, whilst Marc Richards skimmed the top of the bar with a header from a corner but Alex Sykes had the best chance when he robbed Lowson near the corner flag but was unable to cross the ball into the empty net.
But, not to be too downhearted, any away point is a good point in this league.
There will be a coach running to the FA Cup tie at Dorchester Town next Saturday leaving Meadow Park at 11am. Seats will be £15 for adults and £13 for over 65's or under 14's, to book a seat please contact Joe Green on 07860 802839. Family bookings will atract a discount.
