Neil Slatter - Defender

Debut : Waterlooville (A) - 15th December 1990

Last Game : Waterlooville (A) - 15th December 1990

Described by Chairman Les Alderman as a "Christmas present to the City fans" ex-pro and Welsh International Neil Slatter signed for the Tigers in December 1990 despite the interest of Yeovil Town, Merthyr Tydfil and Barry Town.

He was advised to quit the full time game by doctors after suffering a string of knee injuries and had both cartilages removed but was still suffering with his left knee when he joined the club. Medics suggested that he'd be able to cope with the rigours of semi-pro football whereas full time training would've been too much.

After a career that had seen him gain 21 full caps for Wales as well as playing over 250 league games for Bristol Rovers and then in the old first division with Oxford United he fell out of favour with new manager Brian Horton at the Manor Ground and moved back home to Cardiff and signed for the Tigers.

Sadly he didn't have a long and fruitful career at Meadow Park as his debut away on the south coast at Waterlooville lasted for all of 52 minutes before he was substituted and he never played for the club again.
