Our first match at Hyde was a real introduction to life in the Blue Square North, a Monday night game in Manchester! That game at the impressive Ewen Fields was total daylight robbery as Hyde played City off the park but couldn't kill us off and succummbed to a 90th minute equaliser from Mike Symons.
The return game at Cirencester saw an easy 2-0 win for David Mehew's men with two goals from Lee Smith including a beautful curling shot into the top corner.
For the 2010/11 campaign Hyde dropped the "United" from their name to celebrate their 125th anniversary although some say it was more to do with the clubs takeover by Manchester City FC that also saw them repaint the stadium blue.
The first encounter of the season saw a hard fought 1-0 win for the Tigers, well, Gloucester's Tigers as Hyde are also named after the ferocious cats with Mike Symons getting the games only goal. |
