South coast team who we played in an FA Cup tie in 1994 with the prize being a first round proper tie away at AFC Bournemouth.
City were hot favourites in the game at Meadow Park but found themselves trailing for a long time before a powerful header by Richard Crowley took the tie to a replay, however it would've been unecessary had Colin Peacey not missed a sitter in injury time.
The long midweek trip south was eased thanks to entertainment provided by Video Nest; an advanced copy of Waynes World 2! The film was better than the game when despite and early header by Mark Hallam City succumbed to a 1-2 defeat.
The two teams were drawn together again in the third round of the FA Trophy in December 2025. |
