In two spells at the club he amassed 187 appearances scoring 20 goals. Not usually headers though, he never seemed to connect properly with crosses despite trying his best to! From memory I can recall just two goals in his first spell; one was an attempt at a header at Chelmsford that went in off of his shoulder and the other was a close range effort forced in at Hastings where Michael Oakes had performed so admirably on his debut at the other end. After he did feature in John Murphy's plans Tommy joined Forest Green and was part of their rise up to the Conference. He didn't appreciate Trevor Horsley's chip stops on the journey home from away games mind! After a single game for Dorchester Town he returned to Meadow Park under Brian Hughes before eventually taking over from him although he was rather bizarrely referred to as the team co-ordinator rather than the Manager.The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
