Moved on to Northampton Town and Newport County before returning to City on loan in September 2001. In a run of eleven straight games he had a mixed bag of results, the most memorable being the 1-7 defeat against Bedworth United at Meadow Park. He signed permanently at the start of the following season but only lasted three games and seemed to have a nightmare in the 0-4 defeat at Cinderford Town where the player-manager was heard to tell him to "pull yourself together man".
