Liam Armstrong - Goalkeeper
D.O.B. -
Debut : Guiseley (A) - 28/08/21 Last Game : Kings Lynn Town (H) - 03/02/24
Promising young goalkeeper signed in pre-season 2021 after impressing in a game against Swindon Supermarine following his release from Bristol Rovers.
As understudy to Jake Cole chances were few and far between and his first three games ended in defeat; his third and final appearance of that run was the calamatous 0-9 defeat at Chorley.
During his second season he was understudy to Brandon Hall and spent time out on loan at Supermarine before getting injured but played a handful of games towards the end of the season including the memorable 4-3 win at home to Chorley which elevated the club into the playoffs.
With no other keeper signed for the 2023/24 campaign Liam finally appeared to have claimed the no1 shirt as his own but there was no harsher judge of his ability than a former England keeper and the loan signing of Zach Jeacock felt like a kick in the teeth to him.
With Jeacock returning to his parent club all seemed well for Liam to get his place back but again he lost his place to another young loanee and was released in February 2024.
He won five of his eighteen games playing for City, losing seven and conceeding thirty-seven goals.
