Results wise James is the best manager the club has ever had and during his short spell at the helm was able to attract the calibre of player who would take the club to their highest ever league position, atop the National League North. However, he proved himself difficlut to deal with off of the pitch and after being given notice of termination by the club had no hesitation in accepting an offer from Chesterfield when they were looking for a new manager. Sadly he was able to tempt several of City's players to follow him there. More controversy followed at Chesterfield and he was relieved of his duties before ending up at AFC Fylde. Upon his return to City with the pointless Blackpool club the crowd spent more time goading him than watching the Tigers win 1-0 and it led to James writing a letter of complaint to the club afterwards!
