With previous experience at Shortwood United, Hartpury College student James had also turned out for the reserve team at the New Lawn during the 2007/08 season and after spending time during pre-season with both FGR and the Tigers he opted to join the Nailsworth based club. However he was unable to break into the first team and made the switch to City in time to make his debut in the memorable 6-3 win at Corby Town.
