Both Dick and his elder brother Bob made a significant contribution to Gloucester City’s post-war history – both serving the club in several capacities. Dick joined Gloucester City as a player under Doug Hunt. After nine years he moved to Kidderminster Harriers in 1960. He joined Cinderford Town and subsequently became player-manager of Bream Amateurs becoming their first paid player in their history. Bream won the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division 2 title under his watch in 1964/65 season. Dick rejoined rejoined Gloucester City in 1965. Became Assistant Company Secretary to George Crew-Smith whom he later replaced in 1972. Dick was also Secretary until Dave Gettings took over in 1971 and acted as manager until brother Bob took over. In all Dick served as Secretary (1969-71), Coach, Manager (1967,1970 and 1980 caretaker and 1972-73 full time, Director, Chairman (1975-80) and President (1987-2004).
