Danny Wright - Forward
D.O.B. - - Norwich
Debut : Blyth Spartans (A) - 05/08/23 Last Game : Bishops Cleeve (A) - 23/04/24
Experienced striker who had spent the majority of his career around the top end of the non-league pyramid.
Tall and blonde in the mould of Graham Withey, Danny had signed with a certain style of football in mind from new manager Tim Flowers. He was supposed to be on the end of crosses as the former England keeper preferred a direct style of play, however, the crosses were few and far between and when they did come Wright missed a few sitters and became the target for frustration from the T-End as City struggled.
The first of his six goals from forty games came late in October at home to Alfreton, then we had to wait until his twenty-fourth game to see his second at home to Peterborough Sports.
In between those goals he'd received a somewhat harsh red card at Boston when he was adjudged to have elbowed a defender whilst jumping for a throw.
His other four goals were against Curzon Ashton, Hereford, Bishops Stortford and a delightful lob over Jas Singh at home to Tamworth.
Danny announced his retirement at the end of the season.
